If you have never travelled outside Bangladesh, Nepal is the perfect first stamp in your passport. It is close, affordable, and the paperwork is refreshingly simple.
Visa
Bangladeshi passport holders receive a free visa on arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport, Kathmandu, once per calendar year. Carry a passport valid for at least six months, a passport photo, your return ticket and hotel booking. The process takes 15–30 minutes.
Flights
Biman and US-Bangla fly Dhaka–Kathmandu in about 1 hour 20 minutes. Fares are lowest in September and from February to April. Sit on the right-hand side of the aircraft for a view of the Himalayas on approach.
A 5-day plan that works
- Day 1 – Kathmandu: land, check in at Thamel and walk to Kathmandu Durbar Square.
- Day 2 – Heritage: Swayambhunath at sunrise, Pashupatinath, then Boudhanath at dusk.
- Day 3 – Pokhara: tourist coach or 25-minute flight, sunset boating on Phewa Lake.
- Day 4 – Sarangkot sunrise: the Annapurna range turning gold, then Davis Falls and the Peace Pagoda.
- Day 5 – Home: fly back from Kathmandu.
